I give them to my work. Honestly they aren't worth as much as people think.

We'll cash em in and get food and beer.

they will act as a huge heat sink

Only until they reach equilibrium, and because of the relatively high idle dissipation of the ncores, equilibrium is relevant (like with class A amps, but unlike class A/B amps).

Do you have any plans to shield the umbilical cable that feeds the NC400 from the SMPS power Inlet cable?

They do run pretty nicely at almost-textbook 90 degrees to each other, so it is probably not an issue.

Matt,

I agree with others - that build is absolutely insane, gorgeous! I think I like the innards better, because of the 'planning' involved with shielding, cooling and routing the wires.

Kudos! I know the chassis cost a bundle though - I'm sure a pair of them is as much as the amps with power supplies themselves.

You would make Bruno very, very proud!

Best,
Anand.

I just spoke with Bruno via email and he said the power wires/bundles being close together shouldn't be a problem.

Today I finally finished all the cases. The XLR connector hole was a little tight, so i opened it up a bit. The Cardas XLR drops in smooth :)

I will be assembling my pair tonight. Hope to post more pictures soon.

The lady was watching a movie upstairs. It was called "The Last Song" . Not the best movie, more of a chick flick but it has good sound.

I switched out amps with the D~400's and prayed they did not blow up. A few seconds after i powered them on, i heard a click and the sound came after.

First of all, absolutely no noise, like none. I usually hear a little with all amps but can't hear any with these.

I've only heard them for about an hour now but the sound is very different. Can't make a conclusion yet as i need to spin some records and listen to some digital. I'll run it for long period of time to check temps.

I'll post pictures tomorrow of them in my system.

I worked as a Aerospace cutter grinder/ toolmaker for a few years making flight parts for NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in the machine shop. my brother in law is still there as a lead CNC machinist/shop foreman.it is a treat to see how good you are as a machinist at the young age of 25.what is amazing to me is that you designed and programmed the cases yourself at such a young age :thumb: I cant wait to show my brother in law this thread because I know that he is going to love your works of art.

After running the amps for hours, they are just warm. Not hot at all. My pre amp is hotter then these are.

Indeed. Hoping one of these days I can send him my Optocoupler case and have him plant it into something fancy like it well deserves. Anyway CANNOT wait to see the anodized models of these  :thumb:
