Solved the problem from my last post which was a simple little error, The rectifier socket was soldered in wrong and the LED was back to front .Now the fun continues with smoking resistors @ 221L and 220L. Getting a little frustrated now and thinking i should have just keep this thing stock. Anyone got any thoughts?? Reisitors are Kiwame 2W and yes they are the correct values.

What do you mean about wrong soldered rectifier socket?  :o
I think you should begin with measuring the voltages from the power supply.

The socket was not soldered into the correct position in relation to the octal socket. Voltage tested out fine

Could you be more precise - what voltage have you checked?
How much is the voltage across the resistors?
I think if you had mistake in the B+ rectifier - you may have several parts out of order. But it is only my guess up to now.

I Just changed out C207 and all is fine, I remembered i had to re-solder that cap in after i couldn't fit the sonicap next to it, may have over heated the capacitor. Heater voltage is 6.1 and all voltage are with in 10v+/-. I'll keep an eye on the 2 resistors that were smoking but they seem to test out ok, Got no spare 1.8k Kiwame.

Thanks anyway Poty!
