Hello folks

I don't think Bryston should make full range or monitor speakers. But i do think it would be cool to see Bryston make a Subwoofer. Harness what they know about amps and crossovers and build a nice sub. I dont know any manufacturer that builds only subs. I think its a good idea.

It really doesnt req the kind of R@D that a fullrange speakers require. They have everything they need in terms of amps and crossover experience to build something really nice.

I would like to see Bryston make a pure multi channel analogue preamp. No digital processing. Let the source do all of the decoding and configuration. For example the Pioneer BDP-09FD was designed with that in mind as an option.

I understand that I could get a used SP1.7 or SP2 and use it in analogue bypass mode, but I would still like to see a dedicated analogue product.

What do you think?

1."REL" are a sub only speaker company.

2. Its usually the bass control that goes pear shaped in analogue multi ch.

You do really need delay options. crossovers for 'small' speakers etc.

This takes a lot of analogue work (read cost), also large size.

I love analogue, but at times digital suits the purpose better..............

Well, I just scanned through the SP3 posts and on page 19 #376 I found this.

"Hi James
With this trade in, what are you going to do with all these old players?
Hi werd,
Boy I have been tossing that one around for a while. I was thinking maybe we could remove the digital sections and resell them as a very inexpensive 5.1 analog preamp?
james"

I would be interested in purchasing one these 5.1 analog pre-amps.

James, any updated info?

Thanks,  Al

A Bryston 5.1 analog pre-amplifier :D :o  If this did happen, I could see me also purchasing a 9B and Laundrew would be very happy with this type of upgrade for his Home Theater System. Perhaps something Bryston should look into further :thumb:

Be well...

Now that Bryston has earned a place in digital playback, I would like to see them introduce an A/D converter for recording that is equal to the BDA-1 on the other side of the fence.

With all the mass storing of music going on, we need a high quality solution for ripping our vinyl and tapes.

My two cents.

An AD converter for vinyl from Bryston,I'd wait for that.I was looking into a benchmark, but if Bryston
is thinking about an AD converter,I'd wait to hop on the "A" Train.

I think Bryston should add a second dac to it's line with a digital volume control and headphone output.

And my two cents:  I think before I would spend thousands of dollars converting a perfectly good analog signal in its native format to digital then converting it back to analog I would use the money to buy or upgrade to a really good TT/arm/cartridge.  I can't imagine that some of the integrity of the original signal wouldn't be lost in the process.  To me this process would potentially sacrifice fidelity for convenience of storage and access. The tactile component of the interface to our music is something I enjoy.  I wouldn't be interested in the new Bryston A/D converter.

Yes '95 I would agree with you and I have invested heavily in analogue replay equipment. This is precisely why I want to be able to record to digital the best way possible.

I am not considering replacing my TT's with digital only! No way, Jose.

But, digital music files have a certain appeal. Portability for one. Another is ageing....I want to have wireless access to my library as I enter my later years - like the Squeezebox kind of thing.

...all these a/d or d/a discussions are very interesting and on top of that it will be kind of exciting what Bryston will offer here.
since the BDA-1 is available i think we can be satisfied and Bryston has just shown how important the digital area really is. and once they have developed a product that will fit into the market it will be a must have...

But seriously, the real estate and power requirements can't be too different between a D/A and an A/D.

James, what do you think? :|

It's doable but we are up to our ears in other projects!
