I found out that it's just a matter of gluing back the wires using instant glue or something like that. But you need to be careful not to drop the glue on unwanted places and use a tiny amount. I didn't do anything else and my 30 year old Magneplanar speakers sound great. I leave the cloth off so I can easily work on the wires without even moving the speakers, and the speakers look great that way too. I hope this post helps at least some members

Please post a few pictures.  I have been trying to figure out how the resolve this problem.  Also which model speakers do you have?
