Speakers stands for Salks -- not sure what will work

I'm choosing speaker stands for my Salk SS 6M speakers.
They measure:

20” H x 9 1/8” W x 14 5/16” D

There are many options for speakers stands.

Here is my question: Many stands feature a top plate that is 6" x 6" or 6" x 8" 7" x 7" etc.
On any of these top plates, my speaker would hang off the sides and front/back by at at least 2-3 inches.

I'm considering Target stands, for example, but am not sure if it's worth spending good $$ on a stand if there is this amount of overhang.

Does anyone have advice about the above mentioned fit between speaker base and stand top plate?
And if I had a top plate made locally to go along with the stand, would I just affix it myself? Have it welded on?

I didn't want this to get so complicated and I may be overthinking things, but I have invested in these speakers and want to do them justice with the stands.

Thanks for your opinions, and I hope you all are keeping well.

There are lots of options (I'm sure many more than I'll list here) -

When I had my rack (from Odyssey Audio) custom made, Klaus custom made speaker stands for my surrounds based on the size of the top plate.

Thank you for your reply.

Can you clarify:

Are you saying that it is or is not necessary to have a top plate made to fit the speaker base?

Do you have an opinion on the specific overhang question that I posed?

Thank you.

I used TimberNation and for a reasonable price they fabricated custom, fillable pedestal style stands that fit the monitors perfectly with the size of base I wanted, and at the exact height to put the tweeter at ear height for me in my chair.  You'll be limited in finishes and woods used, but they looked very good to me (see their website).  They offer several styles of loudspeaker stands and take orders over the phone, which take a few weeks to fill.  The stands shipped out well packed, no damage, and were easy to assemble.

Thanks. I infer from your answer that it's necessary to get as close a fit as possible. I appreciate the Timbernation recommendation. I have heard mixed responses about wood as a material for stands, but if it's a dense wood, and fillable, the vibration dampening would be adequate, I assume, especially if there's blue tak, too.

My Odyssey stands were made with a top plate to the dimension of my speakers and the veneer on the front of the stands was made to match my rack.  It is not necessary to have an exact match.

There are lots of reference materials on using stands - e.g.

Thanks so much for your further reply. The reason I came to ask the question here is that very few of the websites address the ratio-of-top-plate to speaker-base-dimensions issue. This could mean it's a non-issue, but because I'm at point of purchase, I wanted to press on and try to find out.

You just don't want a top plate that is too small.  In a prior system I had in my upstairs bonus room, I used bookshelves with stands where the top plate was on the small side (I now use those stands for small surrounds in a secondary system (and the bottom base of the speakers allows me to attach to the stands).  I now have floorstanders upstairs.  For added stability on the four stands I use for side and back surrounds in the main system I use this - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000FJU290/?coliid=I2YDH3HRS5K01C&colid=321FECHQA1Z6W&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it_im

I agree. The reason I posed the question as I did was because I need to know what "too small" specifically is for my speakers.

The choice of which stand, or whether I need an additional top plate comes down to the specific application of the "too small" standard to Salk SS 6M speakers that are 14 5/16” D x 9 1/8” W.

If I don't know that, I don't know what to do.

This is what I did.Attached the correct sized mdf top plate.I used double stands so the bottom plate is larger, heavier, and stable.

I've also seen people use these and paint them black with a concrete block either on top or bottom or both - https://www.homedepot.com/p/18-in-x-8-in-x-8-in-Concrete-Block-30162356/100350689

The blocks they put on the top or bottom were like - https://www.homedepot.com/b/Outdoors-Garden-Center-Landscaping-Hardscapes-Stepping-Stones/N-5yc1vZciau/Ntk-EnrichedProductInfo/Ntt-concrete+block?Ntx=mode+matchpartialmax&NCNI-5

I believe they used some heavy duty adhesive and in one case a person used wood on top and another used a piece of granite on top.

I've also seen someone use threaded rods (e.g. - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-3-8-in-16-tpi-x-24-in-Zinc-Plated-Threaded-Rod-802167/204274007) with wood on top and bottom bolted in (sometimes with a weight on the bottom piece of wood for stability.

I'm sure there's lots of DIY variations that could work well.

Here's a pair I made using 8/4 white ash, 4" ABS DWV pipe and 3/8" threaded rod.

Really nice and great DIY options. It might be a while before I'm able to DIY things.

I use the following for my Adam A7X.  Work great.  They have another size or two as well, depending on the height needed.

I like the design and materials, but it looks like they have only 36"H and 45"H models.

That might be too tall for a lot of monitors, and the SS 6M at 20" tall have the tweeter at ~ 15".  That would put the tweeter at 50"+, quite a bit higher than most seating's ear level.
