What happens if the big wings face outward? They look better that way  from the dining room & hall.
Reviving an old thread, because I've searched, but cannot find an explanation for WHY the big wings "must" go towards the room center. Does it make a big difference in sound and in what way?
I'm in a 12'x14' room, attached to a hallway and small dining room. Speakers are 6.5' apart, aimed at listener, 3' out from the 12' back wall, and listening chair is 8' from each wedge, forming a triangle. Very firstOB- not sure what I'm listening for.

Just thinking outloud ...I imagine it helps sonically seperate the left and right channels.

Pretty much this, it helps to separate left/right channels otherwise everything overlaps the phantom center, so you lose soundstage width as well as the separation of elements within the soundstage since they're all bunching up on top of each other.

You are right about the phantom center image. I didn't consider that too much information between the speakers cound interfere with the imaging.

I reversed the speakers and it sounds more "open" and relaxed, although the soundstage width didn't increase as much as expected. Still, an


audible improvement.

I made the change and the difference is very noticeable. I also changed the toe in to very slight maybe around two or three degrees. I really like the change and the journey continues.
