Is nobody encouraged?  :(

I always think it is very difficult to really discern differences in equipment using youtube videos or digital downloads online, etc. especially when analogue equipment is involved in the comparison.

And I have a decidedly crappy setup for audio with the computer too, so that doesn't help.

So I could not hear much difference, and couldn't really tell which phono stage was in use at any given time. I hope they were using the balanced inputs on the Aqvox as there is a huge difference in performance using those vs. the RCA's, regardless of whether balanced out is used, although it is certainly preferable as well.

I've owned the Aqvox for more than 10 years and really feel no need to upgrade. It helps that I only paid the equivalent of about $750 U.S. for it when I bought it. Wouldn't really matter how good the Luxman was/is; it would not make economic sense for me to upgrade to it.

I just kind of skimmed through/watched the youtube video very briefly. Do they actually draw any conclusions as to big differences in sound quality? I certainly didn't hear them discussing anything like that on the video.

Trying to use YouTube to show differences in sound is full of all sorts of holes that make it impossible.

In this case it is very easy to me. In few seconds, with the voice of BS is easy. And with my KEF Q100 coaxial speakers, without headphones!!!

The problem is more that 99.99% of persons do not have optimized the O.S. and the soft players to play multimedia, that is the true problem.

Mati,

It does not matter how well your system performs, YouTube videos have so many other things convolved with the DUT to one cannot separate it out from the rest.

But in this case the differences are very evident and not only by me (but others, I think, with headphones, much more easy). With audio only AAC 126 kbps -> in the living room, live, the difference must be impressive!

Then, if you are not capable, it is likely that you have not optimized the computer software, trust me.

But how are those differences mutated by all the things that are involved… and invariably with the heavy compression the important small pieces of information disappear. Sure you can hear differences but they don’t tell you much.
