Auditorium 23 Hommage...
« on: 1 Nov 2018, 04:42 pm »
Hi,
Apologies if this has been covered before or a silly question…

The stock mat is getting on my nerves (static cling). I’m thinking of buying the Hommage mat but before I do I need to ask one question. Do you need to adjust the VTA?

Cheers
Rob

The Homage is thicker than the standard A23 mat. That said, I'm not sure how much thicker. The dealer you buy the mat from would certainly have the answer though. Yes, if your cartridge is hypersensitive to VTA adjustments, you'll probably have to tweak that aspect as well. Personally I've never had a single issue with static and the stock A23 mat. Every situation and set-up is different though. A much cheaper option might be to give the Zerostat a try at about 30% the cost of the Homage mat.

Thanks for the reply Mick. When I said 'stock mat' I meant the WT mat.
I do own a Zerostat which does help but curiosity has got the better of me.

In that case and for about $100, I'd be all over the standard A23 mat. One caveat being it's about half the thickness of the stock WT foam mat. So you're back to possibly having to adjust VTA a tad. But try it first. The "new" VTA may yield no noticeable difference sonically. Depends on how fussy your cart is.
