Twin Triple OB
« on: 16 Aug 2020, 02:52 am »
Finally got to putting them together.
Capt Jay did a marvelous job with the assembly and finish on the cabinets.
Danny sent the kits
Cheeseboy did most of the work in putting them together.
We got both the cabinets mounted with woofers.
Got one of wired.
Fired it up.
Had some issues.  Will need to adjust some more - but exhausted today
Jay was available all day for phone support - very patient and not willing to give up on us - thanks once again.

Soon very soon - this COVID has taken a toll on all activities.  Steve came over and hard worked hard all day and that dams Teflon covering on the wire!!

On the side note - the Klaus magic is in full glory.

Glad you had help from the Cheese Boy on these. Looking forward to hearing your impressions when you get everything together.
Every now & then I think about pulling the Super V’s out and put them just to the side of the Super 7’s and just run the Woofs for kicks to see what happens. It would be a very tight fit.  :o

What all did you end up having done on the Odyssey’s? Any opinions formed yet? I still go back and forth on sending mine in. Should give Kraus a late night call and see if he has and thoughts on my situation. I feel like I’m in a rut. Need to figure out a couple issues with the Oppo. Finally bought an old Mac Mini and want to turn it into a Roon Server.....

Decisions, decisions, decisions....

Life is all about decisions.

We ran out of driver wire and hence could complete only one “tower” - plus Cheese had to go home “early” to scrub his deck and polish the hutch - so the project is on hold for the moment.

Where can I get the driver wire?

Hey Sunil
First off,    was fun helping  you   guys, wish  I could have been there in person,  would have been  fun !  I know this has been a long  journey but happy   it's getting  close  for  you.

Funny,  when  I was  talking to you  guys  yesterday, I never  even clued in the  Steve   is   Cheeseboy  !!  Now  I  know.
Remember,  when that  2nd  one  gets  done,  you    need to   switch  from the  Sub out  to a  left/right  pre out,  will give you  better  results.

Talk soon man   :thumb:

Oh,  and just  call Danny  to  order  some  more  wire !!

All done.  Basic settings on the amp as per recommendations from Capt Jay.

So far so good.

Thanks to Cheeseboy for gething the project up and running.
Thanks to Bruce for providing special cables.
Thanks to Capt Jay for his technical support and above all patience and excellent customer service - we ran into a hiccup- but he stayed with me till the end result was to my satisfaction.

I will next attempt the NoRez.

For Danny - what would be a good cross over point between the LS9 and the Twin Triple OB?  I think I have them crossed at 50 🤔

I'd start with it turned all the way down to 25Hz and work with the phase setting to get that dialled in.

Was a pleasure Sunil , and all that  pre-cut no-rez  we sent not be too   difficult for you, just  take your time and make  sure  you have it where  you  want it before you   rub it down or it'll  never  let go of that   high gloss finish.

Congrats! Got them both assembled and working! Woo Hoo!

I imagine you should be able to dial them in pretty easy. Your LS9’s already dig very deep in your setup. Bottom octave or 2 is all you really need these for. Placement might be a bit of a challenge - where are you placing them?

Hi John - I plan to place them in the back of the room - Left and Right back subs!!!

Dialing them in would be the next challenge after the No Rez lining.
