Onkyo vs Pioneer

Both Onkyo and Pioneer are now featuring DIRAC live on a few models. The Onkyo TX-RZ50 and the Pioneer Elite VSX-LX505 are priced close to each other. Is there a reason, technical or otherwise to favor one over the other?

The Pioneer will do 11.2.4 channels but you will have to add an amp for the extra channels.
The Onkyo looks like it only does 9.2.4. You would have to read both manuals to confirm.

Depends on your configuration and room size if you want or need the extra rear channels. I like it even in my small room.

Look at the features you require then go with the one that fits that. Sound is about equal. No worry. Both good sonics.

The Onkyo/Pioneer/Integra models are badge engineered cousins.. they differ marginally in features but have the same core inputs and outputs, and the same circuit boards, so one would expect very very similar sound.

Did you make a decision ? which way did you go?

I have ordered an Integra DRX 3.4 - it is the near cousing to the Pio LX305 and Onk NR7100 - but adds a full set of pre-outs to the mix.

Availability is an issue here - and I have been waiting 6 months now.
