Sovtek 6C4Pi
« on: 19 Mar 2023, 06:46 pm »
I am new to tubes and want to ask if there are any alternative tubes that can be used as backup/replacements to the Russian made Sovtek 6C4Pi 's.  I recently read and now can't find the reference that these are very specific tubes, limited to a few manufacturers and can only be replaced with a like designated tube. I also talked to a reseller who had these tubes available but they didn't have a way to test this model.  I am a bit confused with this specific tube as I have found plenty of info/advise re other tube types I use.  Thanks and take it easy on this new member with the potential dumb question

My unsolicited advice is dont use impulse tubes ( i ) tô audio, the sound are inferior tô the regular version and time life is shorter.

The rectifier tube with similar name are the 6C4P-EV (6Ц4П-EB).

I think he want the single triode 6C4PI-EB small tube for preamp stage made by Reflector and rebranded by Sovtek.

Appreciate the input from SteveFord and FullRange Man on this specific tube.  Re the comment on use of impulse tubes - my phono stage uses 4 tubes ( two of the 6C45 and two 6922 )  I easily found a great range of options on tubes for the 6922 but posed my question of the Sovetek 6C45Pi as it appears they are limited.  Being new to tubes I will research further and look into why the use of rectifier tubes.  Thanks...

You said in the post #1 6c4pi and now you are posting 6c45pi that is a rare expensive tube.

There is no substitute for
the 6c45pi IMO.

I stand corrected and you are right FullRangeMan - I did miss a digit in my original post. The tube I am referencing is the Sovtek 6C45 Pi.  You are confirming what I had heard from another source in that there is no substitute for this particular tube.  They seem to be available for about $60 dollars apiece.  Sorry for the confusion and appreciate your insight.

You would email Andrey at GSTubes for a try, just in case he can source in Rússia factories.
