The DSP is a digital-to-digital upsample processor that converses the PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) digital signal with sampling frequencies ranging from 32-96kHz to 44.1 or 96kHz. It is used between a CD/DVD transport and a DAC (digital to analog converter). It enhances digital signal from a CD/DVD transport and output cleaner digital signal to a DAC. The enhancing process will result in better sound.
Marked sonic improvement is attainable with ANY DAC. Although not all DACs have the capability to accept an upsampled 96kHz frequency, a DAC operates at the standard S/PDIF (Sony/Philips Digital Interface) 44.1kHz sampling frequency will sound better when partnered with the DSP. Of course, greater improvement is possible with 96kHz capable DACs.
The DSP has the following features :

Multiple filters are used to suppress noise generated within and to prevent mains borne noise from entering the circuitry. Despite a mere 6W continuous power consumption, the DSP has an over-engineered power supplies - separate transformer windings feeding 2 low noise rectifiers, followed by choke-filtered capacitor banks. Each bank has 20,000µF filtering capacitance.
