Wayner,
The Fuhrerbunker never had tunes like that!
Really nice stuff, everybody.  Keep them coming.
I apologize for screwing up a couple of posts when I moved AndyR's post into a new topic (Maggie Mods).

Pretty cool to have a 'planar' only circle.

Multi-channel music system (I think you can guess which brand I like)

Okay, my room is still a work in progress, but figured I'd post a few pics for the time being...still have a couple more GIK traps to put up on the walls, maybe a little greenery, and a movie poster or two. Need to break up all the black in the room, so that'll be my next project.

PS. Sorry for the dirty camera lens!

As you can see, the back of the room needs some tidying up lol.

Here is a picture of the BPT OB planar/dynamic system from RMAF 2009. Upper section is a BG RD75 in an OB with angled wings. Lower section is an OB of four DPL-15" from DIY Audio per side. Crossover and EQ is with DEQX.

Do you have any more info on the bass OB units? I'm thinking about throwing together something similar for subs to go with my MMGs.

Hey Chris. Are they a commercial product or something you diyed/custom built? They certainly look the former.   :thumb: The DPL-15 driver is now discontinued, isn't it?

Here's the idea I've been playing with, using AE-IB15s.  Do you feel I should go four drivers per side?:

I built these to use at RMAF 2009 and at home.
Yes, the DPL-15s are discontinued.
The IB-15s are a nice driver and will do the job. Using 2, 3 or 4 drivers depends on the size of your room, how loud you listen and how low you want to equalize them. In an average listening room of 12x15, two should be fine. I used four because my room is 21x40 with 10' celings and I wanted to equalize them flat to 20hz.
You definitely want to use an active crossover and EQ for best results. There is a lot of cone moving around so you want a bass amp with a high damping factor like the 500/1000 watt Ice amps. Another very good choice would be Danny's SW-12-16FR (3 per side) with servo amps.
I just sent my RD75s back to BG for a rehab. They are going to replace the mylar diaphram with their new Kaladex film. Suppose to add 2dB of efficiency as well as a more linear response. Can't wait to get them back and the system cookin' again.

Thanks Chris. I plan on using a Behr DCX and a Yamaha P3500S pro amp.

You did an excellent job, enjoy!

Geeze--- somebody scribbled their name all over that Lightstar but I'll take it anyway if you decide to dump that old thing.

Okay, I'll play. It was tough to get an acceptable angle on my HT set-up:

Magnepan MMGWs in a phantom center pairing with MC-1s for mains (another set of MMGWs in the rear, stereo Martin Logan Dynamo subs. Krell Showcase into a McIntosh 7106 amp powering the set-up with Mac Mini on top, and a Cambridge universal disc player. The distortion is a bit severe because of the extreme wide angle lens. The room is about 9x16, and the TV is a 50" Panasonic plasma. Eventually, I'll paint the room a lighter color and get some traps in place but it sounds pretty good in its present "lively" condition. My main 2 channel setup won't fit well in single shot, but the 1.7s do:

That's a Van Alstine 550EXR in the center, flanked by an REL sub. The vinyl/digital rig and preamp are at one side of the room. My records line the other side of the room, as yet unpacked or stowed. The liquor cabinet, however, is unpacked. No treatments yet, but as with the HT set-up it's not bad live right now. Speakers are about 4' from the sidewalls, and about 5-6' from the rear wall. It's a fairly long room.

As you can see, I like the classic Maggie look, so I paid the upcharge for the off-white socks and wood frame. With the walls painted about the same color, these monoliths tend to disappear in all senses of the word. I want to do the same thing, color-wise, with walls in the HT setup. There's a nice hardwood floor under the living room same as the den, so once I start budgeting for traps I'll be getting rid of the peach pepto-bismol carpet.

My meager offering:

Those are Bob Carver's 180 watt tube monoblocks powering a pair of Carver ALS Platinums.  A Carver C-16 operates the front end.  The disc player is just an old Apex dragged back out when the HT was split from the 2-channel system.  The tuner shown is a Carver TX-11a which has just been replaced with a TX-11b.

I get a hard on just looking at those Carver tube monoblocks.
