Musical Surroundings Nova II with Sumiko HOMC?
« on: 12 Mar 2014, 07:30 pm »
Looking for readers who may have experience, heard, or use a Sumiko Blackbird HOMC with the Musical Surroundings Nova II phono preamp. I have the Blackbird on a VPI Classic, and am considering the Nova II as a 'reference' phono preamp. Any advice is appreciated.  My budget could extend as far as a Parasound JC3+ ($3K), but would rather spend less.  Not really interested in tubed equipment- have always been solid state. Speakers are Magneplanar 3.6/R. Listen to all types of popular music and jazz.

Thanks,

Mark

Your phono pre has a fine reputation out and about.  I think its Paul Seydor of TAS who swears by the Musical Surroundings.  I seem to remember him saying he loves it cause instruments thru it sound very clear, articulate and neutral with no personality of its own.
