Velodyne spl-r 1000 watt opinions

I would like to hear some opinions on velodyne's quality and specifically their lifespan through people experienced with them.  I'm thinking of buying a used velodyne spl-r 1000 watt subwoofer for dual use as a home theater and audio sub.  It's from 2008.  Any reason I shouldn't jump on this?

I still have a  Velodyne CHT-8 and it is over 15 years old and still going strong.  The spl series were very good subs. They were non ported and had very tight bass.  Just make sure there is not woofer rot.
