Improved DUET wireless reception
« on: 31 Oct 2008, 05:21 pm »
I have been working with the SqueezeBox unit for a number of years.

I have offered mods to improve the power supply and to improve the analog output.

I have also offered mods for the digital output.

Now I am offering a mod to improve the wi-fi reception of the DUET Receiver.

The DUET receiver has two internal antennas laid out in the horizontal plane.

The SqueezeBox Classic (SB3) had two internal antennas laid out in the vertical plane.

Depending on your router one of these may work better than the other. Some folks have been turning the DUET Receiver on it's side to get better reception.

In any case, the internal antennas are not the "best" solution.

At RMAF this year, Lou Hinkley and Daivid Gill had a DUET receiver with external antennas. I spoke with David about the unit and he stated that he had no intention of offering ANY mods for the DUET. We also talked about some variations on the antennas and other mods.

I am now proud to offer an external antenna mod for the DUET Receiver.

For a limited time the antenna mod will be available by itself for $150.00.

It can be combined with other mods for a bit of a discount.

I will soon be offering some updated mods for the DUET and SB3.

There will be additional improvements to the internal power supplies in the DUET.

The SB3 and SB2 will soon have a new output section available that will output 2 volts and maintain correct phase with the latest firmware. A glass bottle WILL be involved and the price will be well under $1K.
