Title: where could i place some OB subs
Post by: guf on 18 Jun 2018, 12:44 am

This is my set up. I'm near field, like near near field. I had planned on 2 12 h frames and lay them horizontally with the Omegas on top but maybe too much. Maybe vertically,  right next to speakers?  Could I build 2 single 12s? Nobody seems to ever do that so I imagine theres a reason for that. thought or suggestions?

You need a minimum of 2 drivers per cabinet for the OB subs.

I’d set the subs vertically with the Omegas on top of them.  If the H-frame cabinet would put the tweeters too high, you could build W-frames for the sub cabinets.

Yeah I'm opting for 16 inches high, vertical isn't gonna work with them on top.

Amp power is matched to the woofers. You could do one HX300 amp on a single SW-12-08 on each side, but maximum output will be on the low side. For your application in the near field it might be enough though. You do have to use two amps if you space them apart though.  If you put the pair in a single dual H frame and place them on their sides in the center (between the speakers) then you can use one amp and drive them with a mono (summed left and right) signal.
