Pimp My Preamp... Wood by some young guy
« on: 1 Sep 2007, 05:59 pm »
I recently corresponded with some young guy (Scott) regarding making a face plate and knobs for my Transcendent Sound preamp.  I love the preamp, but wasn't crazy about its looks, so I decided to find a cure for that and this was it.

For a fair price and through great communication, Scott made a bird's eye maple face plate with inlaid ebony selector markers along with contrasting ebony knobs.  I couldn't be happier with the outcome, it looks stunning and the service was very fast.  Scott has employed a hand polishing technique that provides a nice, natural gloss and depth to the wood.  Here are a few photos that don't quite convey the beauty of his work. :thumb:

Henry,

That looks sweeeeeet! Maybe I can ask Scott to do my Anjali amplifier, and pimp the side panels with African Bubinga, or some dark wood.  aa

Best,
Anand.
