Active linestage?

Dusty, have you ever considered building one? Hardware balanced ins/outs, remote, usual parts/power supplies, etc....? Maybe the same chassis as the e•200s? Just brainstorming.

When can you start a new thread with details?

I will start a new thread for DMC•1 in a couple of weeks.
We’re still finishing up software and testing.
This will have state of the art performance, a unique feature set not found in other players, and much easier to setup than even a Sonos Connect.
More to come soon!

DMC•1 is moving along... finishing up the clock/dac board, and software.
Below are a few screen captures of the user interface from an iphone XR, and also a photo of the main pcb layout (minus DAC board).

I am intrigued. I have been using a VDA.2 DAC since it first became available.

Looking at the photo of the DMC-1 prototype, it appears that you are using a Raspberry Pi 3 B+ board? Will there be any access to the HDMI port for connecting a small touch screen? It looks like that port is blocked by the casework.

I am curious as to what OS will be running on this device - Volumio?

Is the analog output going to be similar to the VDA.2: that is two sets of analog outputs, 180 degrees phasing, so that balanced cables can be used?

Will it be possible to run LMS/Squeezelite on this device?

Will there be an antenna port on the back for WiFi?

Of course, I am curious as to what DAC chip is going to be used?

I apologize for all the questions; as it might be premature to do this.

We do not use a Raspberry Pi... we use ASUS Tinkerboard S. Software is a customized version of Volumio (no “my volumio” account needed to stream TIDAL & Qobuz).

It has gigabit ethernet and has an antenna on the rear.

DAC circuit uses the best femto clocks available, AKM4493 with same output configuration as VDA•2 (single ended and balanced output with VRX•1 cables).

This is a custom headless player, you cannot run other software or use any internal ports.

That’s all I can give out for now... I’ll post a new thread when we’re closer to releasing.

OK - thank you for answering my questions, which I had asked a bit prematurely.

I was reading about Funkwhale and wondering if any devices would support it.  Do you think the DMC-1 could?

It would require software development of our end and we have no plans for it at this time.
DMC•1 is software driven, so we can add and remove features based on future needs.
Things like Funkwhale would have to become more established before we would support it.

When software updates become available, they will work as they do with cellphones etc.
You will be notified of an update and what that update contains, you can then choose to update or keep current version.

The architecture also allows flexibility for future internal DAC upgrades as new technologies evolve.
