Monarchy DIP & or 24/96 DIP
« on: 14 Jun 2007, 04:16 am »
Anyone have experience with these devices, likes, dislikes, ideas all welcome.

my plan is SB3 >> Monarchy CLassic DIP & or the 24/96 >> Birdland Odeon Lite DAC

I must admit I have my eyes strongly fixed on a Promitheus DAC a non oversampler , but was still thinking the DIP would improve things.

Any way the reason I was thinking of the DIP - the literature says it completely egnores the transports clock, which I continue to read should be bypassed completely and used in DAC only.

hope this makes sense

Unless you have 24/96 material, the regular version would probably suffice. I believe Monarchy has stated that at 44.1 kHz, there's no audible difference between both versions.

I am following you around it seems.  I got numerous CDs that are 24/96 but ripped and SBed they are transfered as 44k.  so I do not need it now, will the future offer us an SB that can send 24/96 info? don't know.

I'm not holding my breath for a 24/96 version of the SB. Given that 99% of currently available recordings have been mastered to 16/44.1, I don't think I'll be eager to "upgrade" anytime soon.
