Why would an Amadeus slow down?
« on: 12 Jan 2015, 11:42 pm »
Recently found that my Amadeus was running slow (but at a stable speed). Not a big deal, just made a quick adjustment.

But why would it slow down? Old thread loosening? Cold basement in the winter?

Could be a lot of things. Good practice to check speed regularly.

Replace the belt and that should do it.

Agree with Rosco... could be motor, belt...
Just remember, every time you change a belt, be sure to adjust your speed...

Thanks for the replies, guys.

The way I caught this was comparing vinyl rips I made to the CD version. I had an old rip done on a Rega (which always ran fast), the CD rip, and a new vinyl rip done on the Amadeus. The Rega rip was fast, the Amadeus rip was slow, and CD rip was in the middle. The slow rip sounded like it was in another key compared to the fast rip.

Anyway, kinda bummed that I went to all the effort to rip an LP only to find out that it was flawed. Live and learn, I guess.

BTW, even in it's slowed down state, the Amadeus killed the Rega. No surprise there.
