Blue Train
John Coltrane | Format: Audio CD

Just so good!

No doubt - Lee Morgan is so totally out of control on that album.  8)

Are you aware of a good CD version of Sidewinder? The RVG remaster is ruinously hot in the trebles. Went chasing an older version from the 90s and it sounded flat.

Sorry, no, I have the RVG version as well.

What I really need to get is a 180g vinyl pressing of it one day.

Here's some add'l discussion;

Gonzalo Rubalcaba - Antiguo

This excerpt from a Jazz Times review sums it up very nicely -

"An epically sprawling spirit-cosmic convergence of Afro-Cuban dance rhythms, Santeria ritual, '70s fusion, blues, and jazz, Antiguo is his long awaited, hype-promised masterpiece tracks composed/arranged/produced by Rubalcaba, shaded by his Cuban trio (Julio Barreto, drums; Felipe Cabrera, bass; Reynaldo Melian, trumpet), rainbow-ized by chanters, singers, blowers, and drummers, Antiguo rules."

Eric Dolphy- "Out to Lunch"

Music Matters 45RPM. Whoa. This album has never sounded better.

OOP, but Elusive Disc has copies for $10 over what they originally cost.

And wow, the bass and the bass drum sound incredible. The whole thing is just stellar.

Xcellent recording & performance.
Quote
Releasing a live album so dominated by material from Tuesday Wonderland—seven of Live's ten tracks are from that release—might be considered risky or, worse, over-indulgent. But this is jazz, after all, and in most cases the tracks are generously expanded, giving the trio the opportunity to take them to oftentimes unexpected places. It's also a powerhouse performance, providing demonstrable evidence of the advantage with longstanding line-ups. Pianist Esbjöl;rn Svensson, bassist Dan Berglund and drummer Magnus Öström have evolved a unique simpatico, one where it's possible to blend detailed composition with no shortage of group interaction...http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/article.php?id=27604
