AU-X1 blew a fuse last night ....
« on: 31 May 2003, 02:58 pm »
I was playing Led Zep's How The West Was Won on DVD using my X1 for side surround duty when I noticed the power light was off on it :-(

I could not get it to come on, so this morning I pulled it from my rack expecting the worst while hoping for the best.

Took out the fuse, but it was a ceramic type so I could not see into it.

I took it down to RS to see if it was good or not.  It wasn't  :P

I bought the old 4 pack and am now back in business.

I guess the old fuse just gave up the ghost after 25 years or so.

We did have a storm come through last night, but there was very little lightning.  I wonder if I got a large enough spike that it didn't bother anything else but that old fuse????

Anyway I'm in a bit better mood now that it's working again.

Just be glad it was the only the fuse.  I've had the entire AU-X1 blow up on me when it went into Oscillation and I thought the whole damn amp was going to catch fire!

As a Sansui enthusiast,  and as much as I like and admire their hi fi products (and I own quite alot of them),  I think the company tried to make the AU-X1 a bit too sophisticated and it backfired on them.
