Mono sub-out (TX102) ??
« on: 16 Sep 2004, 02:11 am »
Can I just put a resistor from main L and R outputs, both terminating at a 3rd RCA jack? ...maybe ground him separately, with one of the inputs? ...or would this beget crosstalk? ...so does the signal definitely need to be mixed at the sub's input, instead?

Active crossovers (diy, 3-way) for main speaks has fixed input Z=13K.
Sub crossover (diy) minimum input Z=36K, with series 50K pot at 0dB.
TX102 will be used with unity gain, and never above -12dB.
Single source (CD) output Z=47 ohm; minimum recommended load=5K.
Cables are shielded, fwiw.  500mV RMS will drive system to full power.
Attenuation's not a problem; hi-gain sub amp & sensitive woofer.

(I've gotta coupla real nice extra 33K2 R's)

Extremely grateful for any advice re this final detail,
Steve

Hello!

I would not try to some with only res between channels. Use a summing stage at the input to the sub crossover. Since you diy'd the crossover I suspect it'll not be too hard to patch it in.

Thansk!

Thanks, John; I suspected as much (all my best ideas are declined by the laws of physics).

btw; Do you know the ETA on the silver TX102?

Hello!

A few pairs left the UK yesterday and will be with me early next week. Yours are in this batch!  You should see them the end of next week.

Thansk!
