What's in the latest SP1.7 software?

I note in another thread that there is now a version 44A of the software - what's changed since version 43E?

Yes there is version 44C now and 44D will be available in about 2 weeks. We are always updating and adding features as we go.

Ooooh, different per-input cross-over frequencies!

We wantsss it, precious, yesss, we wants it - nice master James gives it to us, hmmm?

What do I need to do to get an up-to-date EPROM and installation instructions? (Besides asking ever so politely? :) ).

$50? Hm. I've no problem with paying that sort of amount once a year or so, but if I wanted to keep up-to-date with each version as it is released, that would get quite expensive after a while....  :(

Any chance you guys might switch to an annual subscription cost...?

Of rather more immediate relevance: as I'm in the UK, can I get an EPROM from PMC, or does it have to come from Canada?

Hi,

Usually the major upgrades have a number change EX 43 to 44 - and therefore a charge is applied. We can ship direct but you must be able to install the eprome yourself which means you have to remove the top of the unit.
PMC can install it as well but they will probably have service charge to do it.

So if, hypothetically, I'd previously ordered 44A, you would now supply me with 44C or D for free?

I'm not worried about the installation, it's just that if it's posted from within the UK it's likely to get to me quicker. (Well, that and the fact that if I can avoid paying international postage, that's a good thing too - or does the $50 rate apply regardless of where in the world the EPROM is being sent to?)

Hi,

Yes if there have been small changes we usually do not charge. 44A had some major development time so a charge was required.
Shipping is extra so I guess in your case getting it through PMC makes sense.

It appears that for your $50 you get a kit of bits which includes the eprom and firmware, plus the tools to open the box and fit the parts.

See  http://www.bryston.ca/press/17_update_kit.html

I hope PMC will be able to supply this.

We will try to make sure you get 44D - we are still working out some code.
Send me an email to Bryston and I will pass it on to the technician.
