Back from DC

OK

Back from the Capfest...and somewhat back to normal since yesterday....it was as anticipated:

big shitty room with a noisy AC that we couldn't control,  but halved the room for a fantastic listening stage...great sound, great people,  great business....tiring like hell with all the driving etc....

however,  dinner with Rim at Filomena was incredible.....
and I came back with 2 K + in records...guess Daddy went overboard,  but then again,  Daddy is happy....and for some of you in the know,  thanks for asking and your concerns: yesterday Powder has had his best blood test in 7 months and is just short of normal....sometimes medicine does help....

late,

Klaus

Thank you for the update.  It’s great to hear that it was a positive experience.  I’m sure the room sounded great!  And I’m happy to hear about your pup.  A great show, time with friends, some new records and a pup that’s doing well....life is good!  :D

You definitely got hosed with that room. Fortunately practically everyone there has heard your stuff and knows better.

Guest DJ in the Odyssey room when we visited. Hint: he's familiar with the turntable.

I enjoyed the dinner -- definitely the best Osso Bucco ever.
Good bottle of Amarone also.

Sorry, couldn't make it back Sunday.  I was planning to but things came up and I had a concert to go in the evening.

See you in Axpona, may be.

P.S. I will send you the cart.

Klaus
Congratulations  on these new reviews
I am really enjoying my Kismet in Stratos,  ( six months now) but some times I wonder maybe I should have ordered the Kartago Extreme mono's  Since those are the ones you use at the Shows , Yes, but I am very happy with what you built for  me with those big 35 K hyper  Capacitors they take as much as 45 seconds to 1.5 Min's to discharge ( I turn the unit off only to change the IC or recently a power cord from PS audio ) My Stratos is being  fronted by PS Audio Directstream DAC>Don Sach's -2 Preamp.( custom built ) ( SP 14-) and of course the very good Groneberg  Quattro Ref. cables. ! into the Maggi 1.7i
Happy Holidays my Friend !

Congratulations Klaus!!! Now that I got my VPI setup, I award myself. The VPI is just blending in very well with all your Odyssey gears.

Yeah...Friday was the %^#^&$((^&$(&^$%  tired night,  and actually went back and worked on the room after dinner for a couple of hours...sleep ?  who needs stinkin' sleep.

One quick shoutout to Filomenas:  I lived for a short time in Italy( 4 months or so total time spent)  and I can say  with absolute conviction that as far as my  my favorite dessert ( Tiramisu )  is concerned,  this one that night was the best I have ever had...just ridiculously good...you guys in the DC area are very lucky indeed

A Shah,
Sounds like we have similar tastes.  I have the all in monos in Stratos cases driving modified 1.7's.  Also been playing with Martin Logan Electrostats and open baffle from Emerald Physics (I just love dipole setups).  I have a modded Don Sachs 14 pre being made as we speak and I have a serious hankering for the PS Audio Direct Stream with that FPGA architecture.  I heard one recently and it just brought everything out of the music.  Incredible resolution.  And PS Audio keeps sending out the upgrades for the software.  Upsampling to 10x DSD and then outputs as pure analog.  Never heard anything like it.  Give me your impressions on the Directstream, if you don't mind.

Hi,
I have my take on the PS Audio Directstream on" tube o file "thread under Don Sach's amp section; of the DAC 's I have listened to and used with my system this is the best of the lot and good value for the money, since I have a mixed system, tubes on front end and SS(odyssey/Kismet) on final amplification this DAC compliments  it very very well , PS Audio and The music room both offer 30 to 45 day return period you could get one and try it out yourself.  hope this answer is not side ways on the Odyssey thread ?
