High input sensitivity can be difficult to deal with in general, regardless of whether the preamp uses tubes or not. The problem is gain. You can easily have too much especially if your preamp puts out more than 2v, which many active preamps do. What would probably be best would be to use a preamp with no gain, like a pure passive or a no gain buffered active preamp. Tortuga offers both options, but there are others. Modwright has a buffer with attenuation control in the works also.
