Connecting the BDP-2 to BDA-2
« on: 9 Dec 2012, 05:02 pm »
Since the BDP-2 is configured with a BNC 75-ohm connector, when using a 75-ohm digital coax cable and connecting the BDP-2 to the BDA-2, does it make any sonic difference whether using a BNC or RCA connection on the BDA-2?

That is, for connecting the BDP-2 to the BDA-2, should I be using a BNC-to-BNC cable or a BNC-to-RCA cable, for the best possible sound?  Note that I've got both units on order and will be ordering a Bryston 75-ohm digital cable for the connection.

If you have the option of BNC output to BNC input, then that is technically preferable over RCA.  The BNC connectors are true 75 ohm connectors while RCA connectors will vary on how close they can get to 75 ohm with the Canare-style coaxial RCA plug probably coming the closest.
