Title: new 1 X 12" Daedalus sub
Post by: Daedalus Audio on 17 Sep 2010, 09:03 pm
here's a quick preliminary pic of the new subs.  it will have a grill which will be the width of the 12" driver so that the angled baffle is always visible.  more info soon....
thanks,
lou

As usual, beautiful and I'll look forward to hearing them in Denver.

I've had these up and running for a while at home and I really don't like to call them "subs". they just don't sound like "subs", no boom-boom etc.  they are more a low woofer, very, very articulate, they do the deep notes as needed without adding any unnatural oomph. just what I was looking for.  I think I'll be referring to these as bass modules.

anyhow I'll be posting the prices on the site soon but here's the quick breakdown.
btw these are introductory prices for now...

the 1X12 is $2290 ea  $4150 for a pair.

custom active low pass XO is $950 and the passive high pass is $450

complete package $5450

the 2X12 version will only be available as a complete package at $9600 for the pair with crossovers.

I'll write more about power amps soon, but one of the best I've found so far is the Parasound 2125 amp. plenty of power for a pair.

Having a tiny bit of "behind the scenes" involvement in this project and after seeing the prices Lou is planning on, I suggest all appropriate Daedalus owners start saving their pennies as this will take a great speaker system to one of the great speaker systems available anywhere, at any price. Considering the custom aspects of this, the cost seems very reasonable and mine are now on order.

Look forward to seeing some of you at RMAF. Lou's Saturday night after hours will be a lot of fun with analog featured. Missed it last year, but won't this year.
