How Does HD Tracks make 24/192 tracks

I was wondering how does sites like HDTracks make their 24/96 tracks.  Do they purchase some master reference copy of the music from a studio and upsample it,   or do they just resell the same data on the copy and call it Hi Rez.

First off HDTracks does nothing (unless it's there label, Chesky).  They get the 24 bit files from the labels they work with.  For their own Chesky label they record in 24 bit digital so these are easy 24 bit transfers.  For some labels (like Warner) they have folks like Bruce Brown (Puget Sound) take the 24 bit DVD-Audio tracks and transfer them to files ready for download.  For recordings that were originally DSD files, Bruce does the DSD-to-PCM transfer (which usually ends up at 88k or 176k).

Hi Ted-

I remember reading on a small number of albums they have done their own 24/192 transfer from analogue masters. This isn't typical, however.

I've heard people complain on certain albums though. Something wrong on their analogue sources?
