I have been using the Apollo with great result for some time. The unit I have comes with two 6N1P as the extra amplification stage. Recent conversation with the local agent for Promitheus realize that the Apollo is now shipped with 6c45pi (the Promitheus web site has NOT been updated).

Nic, may I know the following,

1. What is the benefit of using 6c45pi instead of 6n1p?
2. Is there any mod required on a unit that comes with to 6n1p to take 6c45pi?
3. In the web site, it's mentioned that 6cg7 can also be used, is it a direct replacement to 6n1P?

Thanks.

1) higher gain , the sound is more dynamic but less warmth
2) its a minor change with socket wiring
3) it’s a direct replacement but with lower gain
