Checking bias on the EM7
« on: 29 Dec 2010, 11:56 pm »

I don't know about anybody else, but my gear gets placed in a rack in the corner, and then laced together with so many cables, so that getting at the amp (in this case, my 5w EM7) is truly a pain in the rear. Despite this, today I went and took the whole system apart, to do some cleaning and to check the bias on my amp and the like, only to discover that I couldn't find the magic envelope containing Roger's instructions for checking the EM7 bias.

So, given that I don't want to have to pull everything out again in a hurry, and would prefer that my amp didn't have to sit around with its innards exposed for any length of time, I'd be overwhelmingly appreciative if someone could distill the essence of Roger's bias-setting instructions for me.  That means, I need to know where to put the multimeter probes, and I need to know what voltage reading I should be getting.  A reading of 600mv seems to ring a bell, and something about the output jack and a brown capacitor...

Many thanks in advance.
