Bracing a dipole subwoofer
« on: 13 Sep 2018, 02:16 pm »
I am building a w-frame dipole subwoofer variant. It's made to sit in the corner and

based off of a plan from Audioxpress in 2004.

My question is about bracing. I would like to brace from panel to panel but am wondering if this will harm sound quality as the brace will be in the cavity. See plan view drawing.

I am also considering adding strips of 1x2 to the exterior to stiffen up the panel.

Any thoughts?

I would skip the bracing, and make the panels thicker. Add another layer on the outside, you should be fine then. It will also look better.

Interesting design. It could be a monster with appropriate room EQ.

edit: Sorry, I made too hasty a post (and would delete it if that function were available).

On further scrutiny, I am not interested; the design looks flawed.
