My LS9 project
« on: 2 Nov 2008, 03:53 pm »
I just finished my LS9. It has been playing for about 100 hours now and are starting to settle in.
The cabinet is made of 40mm.(1,6") MDF.
I add 4mm. bitumen on all the internal walls, and then NoRez.
The front baffle is made of 20mm.(0,8") aluminium.
I make it with external xover, but the cabinet is not finished yet. I will make that in copper.
Here is some pics.

Wow, sounds like you will be melting in your listening chair. That sounds like a very nice sounding system. What speakers did you replace with the LS-9's?

My former speakers was homebuild too.
It was constructed my a Danish speaker-guru named Steen Duelund. The brain behind the Danish Gryphon speakers. He also devoloped the Stackfoil caps from DCA ( Duelund Coherent Audio). I plan to upgrade the xover with these caps.
Unfortunately Steen Duelund is not among us anymore.

Very nice!  I'm thinking about something similar (an open baffle line array) as my ultimate speaker.

About time - I've been dropping subtle and not-so-subtle hints for a couple of years.

HEY DANNY, IF SOMEONE WANTED TO DO AN OPEN BAFFLE U-FRAME WITH THE LS-9 DRIVERS, WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE? OR ARE THERE BETTER DRIVERS IN THE GR LINEUP FOR SOMETHING LIKE AN OB LINE ARRAY? THIS WOULD BEE MATCHED TO A  PAIR OF BASS TOWERS WITH 8 OB SERVO SUBS EACH.

I had custom drivers made for the open baffle line source.
