I know, I've posted this before, but to me it deserves multiple encores: 1970's "If Only I Could Remember My Name" with David Crosby and friends (Atlantic). Friends include members of San Francisco, Berkeley and L.A. bands and a couple of Canucks from the day that you will recognize. Dunno how Crosby pulled this off with Atlantic. They must have given him carte blanche cause commercialism is out the window. The lyrics are 60's mind blown sentimental the exception being "Cowboy Movie" which is a fantasy with some of the most involving playing from multiple sources. Do turn it up and the let the instrumental textures slay you. Listen into the choruses for Mitchell, Slick, and Nicolet Larson on the reverse side. Damn, this is a good production and a good performance album. Ten stars. Something will make you a believer. Maybe it's just my system, but analog kills digital in this instance.
Luther Grosvenor ~ Under Open SkiesWhich one of you lugs suggested this album ??It's a killer LP
Uhm, that would have been me, Sahib, in an earlier, blatant spooky-toothier moment of unapolgetic oneupmanship. Somehow, the not-so-veiled intent was meant to be educational. I try and try and try to tell people ... but do they listen?? Nooooooohhhh.Btw, that's some tree he's standing under isn't it. Crikey. He still plays - or did - the small bar scene in England. As does - or did - Mick Abrahms.
Sugarcane Harris ~ SugarcaneEpic, 1970
Yes sirree, that's the right stuff right there, CB, that's the right stuff. Heck of a player. He was supposed to be in the next evolution of the Hendrix band but alas. I can still hear, at will, Sugarcane vs. Mandel on JM's Back to the Roots.
