I know, I've posted this before, but to me it deserves multiple encores: 1970's "If Only I Could Remember My Name" with David Crosby and friends (Atlantic).  Friends include members of San Francisco, Berkeley and L.A. bands and a couple of Canucks from the day that you will recognize.  Dunno how Crosby pulled this off with Atlantic.  They must have given him carte blanche cause commercialism is out the window.  The lyrics are 60's mind blown sentimental the exception being "Cowboy Movie" which is a fantasy with some of the most involving playing from multiple sources.  Do turn it up and the let the instrumental textures slay you.  Listen into the choruses for Mitchell, Slick, and Nicolet Larson on the reverse side.  Damn, this is a good production and a good performance album.  Ten stars.  Something will make you a believer.  Maybe it's just my system, but analog kills digital in this instance.

Now, if I could only remember where my original copy is ... last spin was in February. Still one of my favorites, after all the years.

I recently learned something surprising about this recording. It's on the Pope's official list of top 10 pop albums of all times, second only to Revolver. Undoubtedly the inclusion of IICORMN on the Holy See and Hear list was due to the tireless lobbying efforts of the Archbishop of Texas, most reverend Bishop James Goulding. The Pope's no dope.

"The album gained new recognition in 2010 when it was listed second on the Vatican's "Top 10 Pop Albums of All Time" as published in the official newspaper of the Holy See, L'Osservatore Romano.[5]

Uhm, that would have been me, Sahib, in an earlier, blatant spooky-toothier moment of unapolgetic oneupmanship. Somehow, the not-so-veiled intent was meant to be educational. I try and try and try to tell people ... but do they listen?? Nooooooohhhh.

Btw, that's some tree he's standing under isn't it. Crikey.

He still plays - or did - the small bar scene in England. As does - or did - Mick Abrahms.

Yes sirree, that's the right stuff right there, CB, that's the right stuff. Heck of a player. He was supposed to be in the next evolution of the Hendrix band but alas.

I can still hear, at will, Sugarcane vs. Mandel on JM's Back to the Roots.

That Sugarcane lp was real sweet. I was thinking about what other lp's I had with Harris and "Back to the Roots" is another. The first one that came to mind though was "Hot Rats", my favorite Zappa lp.

"Pair of khaki pants and my shoes shined black".

Tasty progressive from the very start with Hillage with a very cool version of "Hurdy Gurdy Man" and ends with another great cover with Beatles "All Too Much", fine throughout.
