Omega versus Zu?
« on: 19 Dec 2009, 11:43 pm »
Wondering if any Omega owners, especially the Super 8 Alnico XRS have also listened to the Zu Druid or Zu Essence.

Perfectly happy if Louis has comments too. =)

Thanks.

You should. Know your competitors!

I am an owner of both - Zu and Omega, - strengths and weaknesses in both of them.

ClefChef - I use a pair of the Omega Super 8 Alnico XRS in one of my systems.  The only weakness I have found in those speakers is the capacity to fully and definitively reproduce large scale music, e.g., a Mahler symphony.  I would appreciate learning what specific weaknesses you have experienced with Omega speakers, and which Omega speakers you own/heard.  Many thanks in advance.  And good listening!

Does Louis have go out and buy all his competitor's speakers in order to "know his competitors"?
There are many quality speaker brands out there - where, in your opinion is he supposed to start?  Isn't that what we have reviewers for?
You say you are an owner of both.  Why don't you at least try to answer the original question?

Some manufacturer's (some good, some not) do tons of research into the competition.  But they all have deep pockets (or most likely pass that cost along).

Yes, I'd like to find out his impressions of the differences.

Hi All,

It's really apples and oranges considering single driver and 2-way.

I'll build my version of a single driver based 2-way. This will be a lot of fun. Give me 6 weeks.

Thanks,
Louis
