Help - sw12-08 question
« on: 19 Nov 2019, 10:33 pm »
Hi all,
I am hoping someone can help me. I recently purchased a sw-12-08 woofer. I though i was getting the sw-12-08fr. They don't have the same specs. Am i correct to assume i cannot use it in a H frame with a 08Fr?
Could i use it in a sealed box as a single? Or do i absolutely try to find a second matching woofer?

If this was a recent purchase from GR-Research, the SW-12-08FR is the only one on the website.

Check the label on the magnet to confirm which model it is.

The standard 08 version is for a sealed box, and two can be paralleled and used in a sealed box.

The FR model is for free air applications.

It is not the FR. I was lucky and found one on ebay for very very cheap.
I will use it in a sealed box for home theater use. If I want to use a second sealed sub, could I use a sw-12-04?

In terms of power, is the HX300 recommended for this type of use?

Sure just add SW-12-04 woofer and another amp and it will sound just like it.

You can use either the HX300 or the A370 style amp with it.
