Sigma Dp2 Merrill is my new camera. It is my consolation prize for my favorite slide films going away. I have several digital cameras including a couple Canon DSLRs and this is the first digital camera (that's not an $80,000 digital back) that really excites me from an image quality standpoint.

The settings shot were f5 at 1/200th of a second at ISO 100. When shooting digital I always shoot RAW and post process, this image does have a bit more surreal feel to it than the original raw, however it's not too far off.

Hey!

I think the feel you get from the Sigma have to do with their unique layered sensor just like traditional color film. I think Fuji also make sensor inspired by film also, but I don't think in layer like Sigma.

Your B&W converted shot also have that film-like feel to it too, very nice. Maybe you don't need Plus-X anymore.

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

The snow is slowly melting in our area. As of last night, the back deck of our café was still iced over. Didn't stop these girls from having a picnic though.  :thumb:

A couple of B&Ws taken in the historic cemeteries of two of Turkey's most renowned poets: Yunus Emre and Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi.

Took a group of Homeschoolers into a local music studio to record a demo for their kids' rock band, "Seven Day Weekend." The kids cut 5 songs along with learning lots about multi-tracking and studio production. Tons o' Fun!

Hi Bob,

Yea... we actually cut, mixed down and mastered a short CD with the 5-tracks. The kids' ages ranged from 7-17. In addition, I made a promo slideshow with a musical soundtrack using one of the kids' original tunes. Let me try to figure away to share it. I'm not on Facebook, etc. Maybe the slideshow could go up on Flickr!? Or... I could send an MP4 file... I'll look into how to share the project with you. It was really a blast.

Thanks for the idea, Bob! I uploaded my first video to YouTube today. It wasn't as painful as I feared.

Noah Sings His Head Off

This is a short 3 minute video made from a slideshow, that was taken last year, when I took a group of homeschool kids into a recording studio. They named their band, "Seven Day Weekend," and it's been a blast to work with them. The video features their process of playing live in the studio, learning about multi-tracking and mixing their own demo. The soundtrack is one of their original tunes, "Sing To Me," and as a result of working on this and the band for a year, I now have this tune burned into my brain forever! The only thing that can short circuit this tune constantly playing through my head is if I start repeatedly singing , "Yellow Submarine," by the Beatles like a mantra... which is a dangerous cure!

Enjoy the video and forgive any of the amateur production errors. It's all about the kids anyway.

Great shots everyone.

Nothing more exciting than being in a recording studio when magic happens and the vu meter bridge is lit up and the sound is great.

Here are some iphone photos. It's a bit of a photo dump, sorry, just want to get it done in one shot.
