Hi All,
I've downloaded several new titles that you may find interesting. I download (nowadays, surround DXD) directly from the studio website and when not available, from Native DSD.
-- Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 5, Schulhoff: Five Pieces for String Quartet (arr. Honeck/Ille), Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Manfred Honeck, music director (Reference Recordings available at Native DSD).
---- Review by David Hurwitz: Review: Honeck's Thrillingly Visceral Tchaikovsky Fifth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sedKJn597Ds (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sedKJn597Ds)
---- Review on HRAudio: https://www.hraudio.net/showmusic.php?title=16101#reviews (https://www.hraudio.net/showmusic.php?title=16101#reviews)
-- Mattias Spee, Eclipse Vol. 2, Hans Henkemans Mostly solo piano. Vol. 1 is also fabulous. (from TRPTK)
---- Review on HR Audio: https://www.hraudio.net/showmusic.php?title=16059#reviews (https://www.hraudio.net/showmusic.php?title=16059#reviews)
-- Works by von Tilzer, "Into Eternity". Tracks 1 - 3 are sad beyond belief. Tracks 4 - 8 change direction to a lovely chamber/jazz fusion mix. (from TRPTK)
---- On YouTube: The Letter of Vilma Grunwald (Into Eternity), https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvbZBLl_Lyg (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvbZBLl_Lyg)
---- Joost Galema, NRC, writes: "From the dark turmoil of the opening movement, Von Tilzer allows the sung letter to rise slowly — with soft strings and the heartbeat of the piano — from the muck of Auschwitz. And in the final movement, she recaptures innocence from hatred and evil through the simplicity of a lullaby, a beautiful dialogue between alto Bella Adamova and Maya Fridman's drifting cello."
-- Nicolas van Poucke, The Schumann Collection, Vol. 2. Release date is October, https://trptk.com/shop/downloads/the-schumann-collection-vol-2/ (https://trptk.com/shop/downloads/the-schumann-collection-vol-2/). Solo piano (from TRPTK). I own Volume 1. Can't wait for its release.
-- Hannes Minnaar, Shostakovich: 24 Preludes and Fugues. https://spiritofturtle.com/collections/downloads/products/hannes-minnaar-24-preludes-fugues-op-87-2-discs-download (https://spiritofturtle.com/collections/downloads/products/hannes-minnaar-24-preludes-fugues-op-87-2-discs-download). Solo piano and I listen to it frequently. (from Spirit of the Turtle).
