23bd vs 29db while using balanced
« on: 15 Dec 2019, 01:59 pm »
Curious I came across a article this weekend that one preferred 29db vs the 23 mode while balanced.  First is this safe with a BP26 and second does the amp have to be powered down to flip the switch.  On the 23 mode is there attenuater not sure about that one.

Should be fine. I mute my line preamp before flipping the power amp's gain switch.
Powering amps down and up repeatedly does more harm than good.

hey mike - I prefer the 29dB setting on my 14B3. I used to have a Bryston preamp for about 7 years, and it's totally fine using the 29 gain setting.   I would not recommend switching the gain back and forth while the system is in use....but that's just me!

I use the 29dB setting with my balanced input for sound quality reasons.
The cubed series may have fixed this flaw.??
