Recommendation for Graphics Card
« on: 28 Nov 2018, 12:05 am »
I need some help.

I need to purchase a card that can do support 3840 x 2160.  I want to use a 4K tv as computer monitor but my pc only supports 1920x1080 so need to get a card.  System is strictly used as work related activity so gaming level performance is not required.  I might occasionally watch Netflix in 4K but that is about it.  I like to keep the cost under 200 if I can.

TIA

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

And with or without fan.  Fans are evil, in my opinion.

GIGABYTE GeForce GT 1030 GV-N1030D5-2GL $80 Amazon looks like a good option.

Agree with the 1030 card, if you want more performance you can jump up to a 1050 or 1050TI for about $150 or a Radeon RX560 with 4gb GDDR5. These are overkill depending upon what sort of work you will be using it for.

My feeling about computers is to buy as much performance as you feel comfortable for future proofing.

Thx folks.  I actually took a spare laptop that was purchased last year, which supports 4k so I am going to use that and sell my M83 small form factor desktop.
