I built some of Danny's 16 conductor speaker cables, and I am concerned about possibly have cold solder joints due to using a cheap soldering iron. In soldering the bananas I applied some solder to the inside of the banana and then inserted the tinned wire in the banana. In some cases, as the connection heated up I was able to slip the wire further down into the banana. In a couple of cases the banana would not slip down all of the way. They all seem to be firmly attached.
I guess my questions are:
-Would there be an audible difference caused by a cold joint?
-Could any difference in resistance, etc. possibly hurt my speakers?
-Is there an easy way to test to determine if there are any cold joints?
-Are they fixable by re-heating with a hotter iron?
In general, how long of a break-in period is there on theses cables in your experience?
Thanks!
