Title: Power supply for Zen stream
Post by: Kw6 on 30 Dec 2022, 12:11 am
Hi,

I just got my new Zen stream and want to upgrade the small stock wallmart to maybe a power elite but the rating say 12v 4 amps and I need 12v 1.8 amps. Is the elite Ifi still compatible?

Yes the Elite is compatible. Don't think you need to spend that much though.  A lot of the guys at Head-Fi have compared the Elite to the PowerX and preferred the PowerX on the Zen and the Elite on the Neo Stream.  If your not comfortable buying the Teradak then I would look at the LHY LPS25VA from Todd a Tek Audio in Texas at $168. They are designed and built by the same people as the Jays Audio CD Transports.

Good tip I will stick with PowerX 12v 2 amps. I will assume the pin jack is perfect fit for Zen products.

We use the Power X with the Qutest DAC and it made a nice improvement.  We also have a Teradak that sounds a little better but it is being used with an Uptone Regen and it really improves the sound of the Regen.  I am going to buy another PowerX for my Zen Blue V2.

Those Teradak LPS's are quite a steal.  The first one I bought for the Aries Mini in 2016 is still going strong and I expect the latest one with R-Core transformer will be the same way. With shipping from Ali still cheaper than the PowerX if you have the room for it.

Ok thanks for sharing your experience with PowerX!

Hey guys,

The aftermarket power supply is 100-120 v 50/60 hz 1.5 amp input and output is 12v with 3 amp. So this is compatible with Zen

Zen stock is 100-120 v 50/60 hz .4 amp input and 12v & 1 amp output.

Thanks!

Thanks! I saw picture of a If i Elite which has similar specs. Mine is the black box on the ground.
