Can the Dodd/Virtue Battery PSU Feed 2 components?
« on: 25 Dec 2011, 01:14 pm »
Hi All,

I'm contemplating  upgrading to the Virtue/Dodd battery PSU sold through the Virtue website because, frankly, everybody raves about it and it seems like the next, most cost effective way to improve my system.

I currently run the M901 130/30 PSU with a DAC as the front end.  I would like to run both the M901 and the DAC off the one battery pack, is that possible?  Is it necessary?

Cheers,

James

yes, it's possible.
but before you have to know the input voltage of the DAC:
- if it is 24 v (same as m901), you can put input dac at same point of m901 input
- if it is 12 v you have to make a derivation from just one of battery
- if it has a different V input...no

p.s. what DAC have you?

Hi Antonio,

I have a peachtree idac, it seems that input voltage is 20W - from the specs it reads "Maximum power consumption: 20W".  So I must be out of luck.

I'm guessing that running the amp off the batteries would provide the bulk of the improvement anyway.

Cheers,

James

The power consumption is not the spec you need.  You need to find the voltage and current ratings for the DAC.

hey james,
i have had a look to a rear idac panel photo.
it doesn't seem to have a DC input, just AC plug.
so you can't feed a battery power without modifiing something and opening IDAC.
i think is better left standard ac input.
