If I upgrade my BP26 to MM do I still need a step up piece in order to integrate a blp-1 into my system (acknowledging the blp is discoed)?

Hi

It depends on the cartridge you have.  If a MM (Moving Magnet) then no step-up required - if MC (Moving Coil) then a step-up is needed.
