Title: Power Guard Problem w/ McIntosh MC8207
Post by: rich58b on 14 Mar 2021, 03:11 am
I’m running a 5.1 system, pre/pro is MX121, set up to output to only 5 channels,  but this amp has 7 channels.  It’s set up according to the manual directions. Last night, the Power Guard light came on for the two unused channels. Seeing as these are supposedly active when the amp is overdriven and there’s clipping, I can’t figure out what’s wrong. These two channels couldn’t be overdriven to clipping. I had hoped that it would correct itself after being turned off for the night, but today,, it’s the same. Anyone else have a problem like this or a suggestion? It seems to be working OK, but I don’t want to screw it up.

You might try unplugging the amp, holding the power button for about 30 seconds and plugging it back in. I'm not sure on this specific model, but it may clear whatever error you are experiencing.
