C Series Face Plates
« on: 8 Apr 2005, 11:15 pm »
Hello All.

I am curious, does anyone know if the new C Series plates are the exact same dimensions as the old style plates?

I am planning on replating all of my amplifiers because I just orderd a new 6B and my 7B's have old 19" faceplates.

I have a middle atlantic racking system that fits exactly, and I do me exactly.  So 1mm poses a huge problem.

Hopefully they are the same, otherwise I have some explaining to do when my amp gets home and they look different.

Hi Skyhawk,

The C-Series are exactly 19 inches wide (or 17 inches) but the height is 1/2 inch higher because the faceplate now wraps above and below the chassis by 1/4 inch.

But Skyhawk, my understanding is C series faceplates are not rack-mountable.  Though apparantly Bryston will still offer the previous rack-mountable faceplates in black.

Correct - the 19 inch C-Series are only for the Pro Look (there are no rack holes).
If you have to rack mount you have to order the older non C-Series Pro faceplates.

Goood morning gents.

Thats good to know.  But really doesnt effect my application, middle atlantic makes some nice racking systems, they will make custom plates to go around all of your equipment from the same type of metal Bryston uses for their gear; netting a long back cabinet with no visible shelves, and no visible spaces.  The back is ventilated with two 200 CFM fans in opposite directions that are silent.

Hi,

Yes we plan to make a Pro version faceplate for the MPS-2 for rackmount applications. It will be a few months out though.

Hi James,

The C-series plates looks good!  They all look nice in silver!  Any plans on making one for the SP1.7?

Hi Levi,

I have had a few customers ask if a C-Series faceplate would be available for the SP1.7.
I think we will consider it as the new C-Series look seems to be something a lot of our customers like.

Hi James,
How much is it to order a new 17" faceplate for the 6BSST?
I'm too lazy to run down and look at my current plate but is it easy to take off and install - is it screw mounted?

Hi,

Just remove the screws in the handles and the faceplate comes forward. You have to be careful though that you properly disconnect the membrane power switch.

Faceplates are $200 US and handles are $100 the pair.
