Thanks David. I'm starting to get settled. The remodel project is finished except for the natural gas fire pit on the deck and the audio system is up and running. The room isn't as good as the one I had built for audio in Spokane, but I have made it work and the sound is good. I may need some acoustical treatment in a couple of places. All in all, I'm enjoying being back in the town where I went to college and law school. Lots to do. I hope you are well and that our paths will cross soon.

Best,

Laura

Good to see you're setup & back in the swing Laura. You should have more than a few AC folks to connect with in your new location as well. BobISL, thunderbrick (of course he's just not right), and the rest of the GAS group. Hope the flooding stays away from your door, and the A/C squeezes out that humidity. Be Well, and keep 'em spinning.

I agree. Thanks Charles.
I retired from the mining association on March 31 after 23 years. I figured 71 was a good time to do it. I moved to Columbia in April. Great college town and very affordable. I'm doing a little consulting to stay involved and have a little extra money to spend on music. Hope to see you soon.

Thanks JD. I'm far enough from the Mighty MO to not have to worry about flooding. The river has been high all spring and summer. The flood plain still has standing water. I need to connect with the STL crowd. Thanks for reminding me. We had a couple of high humidity weeks, but the last few days have been gorgeous -- low 80s with relatively low humidity--not your typical mid Missouri summer day, but I'll take it.

Be Good

Welcome back ... and can you remind us why you left Spokane for your new digs? Glad to hear you’re settling in.

Thanks Lester,
I retired in March and was looking to get closer to family and some of my other passions besides vinyl and audio--like Mizzou sports. The only reason I was in Spokane was my career that took me there in 1996.

Welcome back. A week ago I was playing the Gentle Giant albums you gave me  and said to Bill, what the heck became of Laura?

Since 2015 business brought me to both St Louis and KC many times, found some great record stores, though it looks like Columbia is smack in the middle of the state, equally between the 2 cities but not near them. Oh well. If you get into St Louis look up Euclid, (but stay off the 2nd floor, they keep the jazz there), and Vintage Vinyl. Then cross street from VV and have a meal at Salt and Smoke, I recommend the BBQ Brisket.

Thanks Charles. I lived in Columbia from 66-74 and KCMO from 74-80. Yes, great BBQ. Bryants was a regular Friday afternoon lunch stop. Also enjoyed Sneads out in Martin City.

Thanks Gene,

Columbia has a pretty good record store -- Hitt Street Records. I've gotten to know the owners. I have been to Vinyl Renaissance in KC and it is a great record store. They have a wine bar in the center of the store. Good used collection and they bring in everything new too. I bought my Beatles British Blue Box Set from them. I have not been to St. Louis in about 35 years although I am a Cardinal fan. I just connected with the Gateway Audio Society so I see a St. Louis trip on the horizon. I have heard about Euclid's but haven't been there. Columbia is exactly 1/2 way between KC and STL on I-70. Columbia, being a college town, has a great live music scene. There is a Roots, Blues and BBQ festival in late September. Last year The Avett Brothers and Nathaniel Ratliff and the Night Sweats were among the headliners. This year its Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals and The New Pornographers.

Hope you are doing well.
