Has anyone heard speakers from Digital Phase?      http://www.digitalp.com/dphome.htm and   http://www.acousta-reed.com/

They claim to make the finest loudspeakers on earth.

I have known about them for many years now but have only come across one online personal review. That was for the small studio monitor and the reviewer compared them to what would be considered some of the best studio monitors.

So enlighten me.  8)

  • I can't send hare in search of anything!
Ronny, I remember reading a thread on either AA or Audiogon regarding the speaker line and those who had heard them had nothing but respect for the design and designer.

That is all I can offer but I hope the info will be helpful.

I've had a pair of original AP-1's with the older polypropylene woofers since 1997 and they are quite good. Last year I ordered an upgrade kit with newer alum. or magnesium woofers but have been reluctant to install it as they've been so easy to listen to as is, just not as detailed.

Oh yeah, they REALLY need to change and update their website.

i mean.. it shouldn't make any diff. but it always kills me when these guys ask for $36,000 for a pair of speakers on a website that looks like they put $7.46 into

No kidding. I talked with them a year or two ago about their lame website and they said they had a new one almost ready to go. Even talked with the big cheese over there. I can see they are not very good at marketing. Probably just too busy building and selling speakers.

Thanks for the input. Let's get some more input from owners.

No, the best are from a company named Lynn Labs or something like that. They look like coffins that someone stuck a bunch of drivers on at random.

I saw the ad, and it said they were the best.

Wasn't this acousta-reed thing from a company named Nelson-Reed or something like that?

It didn't actually work, but that didn't stop them from making all kinds of claims for it.

I just found some promo material from Nelson-Reed on someone's web site and it doesn't mention the acousta-reed.

However, I do remember seeing someone using it, and I think I once looked at the patent for it. Someone reviewed it and said it performed just like you would expect a cabinet of the same type to perform without these "reeds" at all.

I would consider the Linn's, but I prefer taller speakers.

Such snake oil - especially the amplifier section which are just rebranded Behringer and Dayton Audio amps. That fella who runs Linn needs a lesson or two in Adobe PhotoShop.

Anand.

Back to the OP, Google maps is a wonderful thing.  Take a gander at the address for Digital Phase Loudspeakers 9203 Lee Highway - Suite 4 Ooltewah, TN 37363.  Do you think their state of the art facility is next the the Hardees and China Rose Restaurant on the Bi Lo side of the road, or across the street next to the Taco Bell?  In any case, somewhat underwhelming for a company asking $32,000 for their reference product.  To be a least a little bit fair, they do have many much lower priced offerings, but the OP said "Finest in the world" so I assume it was the $32k EP-4 that he was referring to.  Also explains the web site quality.
