Vandersteen Treo CT thin low midrange
« on: 19 Nov 2019, 04:30 pm »
Hey,

I’m experiencing some thin low mid range on my Treo CTs. I listen to a lot of rock with distorted guitars that sound so think and even male vocals can sound thin. I’ve had a mid bass driver rebuilt and the speakers seem to be running well but these just sound thin to me. I’m running them with a crown class D amp temporarily with plenty of power. Are these speaker voiced a little thin in the low mid range? I put up a pair of Buchardt S300 MII and they did not exhibit this same issue, now I get that these are wildly different speakers but I wouldn’t expect such a variance. I’m sure I’ve left out come valuable info so please ask away. Thinking about selling and starting over.

I thought the same.  Auditioned them at 2 different places.  One with VTL and the other with ARC.
Wasn’t impressed.  Not much meat on the bones.  It could also be because they lack upper bass thickness that it makes the midrange sound thin.
